Portal of Light
Explore alternate dimensions of consciousness.
Portal of Light is designed to be used as an open-eye meditation aid. It offers smooth kaleidoscopic imagery, with a gently psychedelic edge. It's a self-transforming yantra capable of taking you deep into the realms of trance. Gaze into the heart of the mandala. Chant your mantra into visual life. Play at abstract fluid art with your fingers. Or place it in screensaver mode and just leave it on your coffee table to add to the ambiance of your evening.
[Portal of Light was originally designed for the iPad, but now also works on iPod touch and iPhone.]
Active: Portal of Light is best used seated on the floor or a meditation cushion, with the iPad/iPhone lying flat directly in front of you. If you gaze gently past the tip of your nose, the screen should be center frame. It is thus viewable with your head bent slightly down and within easy reach for touch response. You should ideally be in silent darkness, or in candlelight. Background sound will interfere with the mantra-chant response, so ensure you are in a quiet environment if you want to chant.
Passive: Select screensaver mode and position at head height 3 to 4 metres from a comfortable chair. Choose dim or no lighting, preferably at dusk. Play your favourite music and just let your thoughts drift where they may.
Accessing the options menu:
Touch the screen with 5 fingers or turn the iPad face down to activate the menu. For iPhone/iPod touch, use a 4 finger touch. Tap an option to select, or tap outside the center strip to enter screensaver mode. Not all modes are touch and sound responsive, see the Portal of Light website for further details.
Screensaver mode cycles through all the display settings that don’t require sound for visuals. Each randomly selected setting will display for 1 to 4 minutes, before moving on to the next.
Now a Universal application. Works on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
Added multi-tasking awareness for iOS 4 compatibility.
