FoxPop Powered by Spot411 is a new way to watch movies and connect with friends.
FoxPop works with:
* Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
* (500) Days of Summer
* Jennifer's Body
* Fantastic Mr. Fox
* Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
* Avatar (NEW)
* Tooth Fairy (NEW)
The app uses the microphone on your iPhone to “listen” to the movie. It then analyzes the soundtrack and from there can both identify which movie you’re watching and which scene is taking place.
Simply start the movie on your TV or computer and FoxPop will listen to what you're watching. In moments you will receive facts, quizzes and interesting information about the movie based on the scene that you're watching.
In addition to receiving messages from the movie, you can also write and send your own messages based on specific moments from the movie. When you compose a FoxPop message, it marks down the time in the movie’s length and then stores it onto its system. When a Facebook friend happens to watch the same movie with the FoxPop app running, the messages you wrote during your experience will be added to the messages being sent out from the movie itself. It's the closest thing to you and your friends watching the movie together.
Here's what the press is saying:
Techland, a Time.com company - "The promise of this technology is evident - FoxPop could be an ingenious way of integrating the audience into the spectacle. So first impressions: Impressive and fun."
Mashable - "We love the idea of integrating social media with the movies in a more interactive and fluid way. Integrating Twitter and Facebook into the experience — as well as providing additional information and value to the films themselves — is a really great way to adapt the traditional movie watching experience to the new ways of social interaction."
