Guide young readers by teaching them word families. Word families are words with common features or patterns, typically rhyming words with the same ending pattern of letters. WordFamilies for iPhone and iPod Touch contains over 40 of the most commonly used phonics word families in the English language:

-ab, -ack, -ad, -ag, -ail, -ain, -ake, -ale, -all, -am, -ame, -an, -ank, -ap, -ar, -ash, -at, -ate, -aw, -ay, -eat,
-ed, -eel, -eep, -eet, -ell, -en, -ent, -est, -et, -ice, -ick, -ide, -ife, -ig, -ight, -ile, -ill, -in, -ine, -ing, -ink, -ip, -it, -oat, -ock, -og, -oil, -oke, -old, -oo -ood (long), -ood (short), -oof, -ook, -oom, -ool, -oon, -oop, -oot (long), -oot (short), -op, -ore, -orn, -ot, -ought, -ould, -ouse, -out, -ow (long), -ow (short), -own, -uck, -ug, -um, -ump, -unk

WordFamilies starts up with a random word family selected. Press the Next Word button to cycle through the words in the selected word family. Press the Say Word button to listen to the word. Press the Family button to select another word family.

Try before you buy: a free lite version called WordFamilies FREE is also available in the App Store. WordFamilies FREE is a fully-functioning app with just 10 of the commonly used word families in the English language:
