Josef Albers
The Josef Albers iPad app is a digital publication “Apps for Art“ designed to supplement the traveling exhibition “Painting on Paper: Josef Albers in America“. The exhibition opens on July, 20th, 2012, at The Morgan Library & Museum, New York, and has already been presented at Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München, Josef Albers Museum Quadrat Bottrop, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, Kunstmuseum Basel, Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Pompidou, Paris, and CAM—Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon.
The app is based upon the exhibition catalogue published by Hatje Cantz and presents a wealth of colored works on paper by Bauhaus master Josef Albers, many entirely unknown and documented here. The rich and vibrant works display a sensuous fascination for the phenomenality of color.
High-quality zooming capability, photographs, audio and video files, along with essays by recognized Albers experts provide a multimedia approach to the exhibition.
