General DB is a general-purpose database app that lets you record information quickly and easily.

Try our FREE Private DB app to get a feel for General DB before you buy.

For example, if you have a bottle collection, you could make a table with these fields: Date Acquired, Bottle Type, Bottle Origin, Shape, Notes. Then whenever you add a new bottle to your collection, you can add a row to the table describing it.

If you want to track visits to different vacation sites, you can make a table with fields for the Date Visited, Location, Description, and Attraction. As you visit the sites, you can add corresponding rows to your table.

After you add rows to your tables, they will be:
* Searchable
* Sortable
* Selectable

Many apps are too specific to a subject, but General DB is flexible enough to handle many, many needs, such as:
- Inventories
- Customer info
- Membership lists
- Tracking Logs
- Accounts
- and many more !

No database knowledge is required to use this app, but you will pick some up as you go!

For power users:

General DB allows easy data entry into a full-fledged SQLite database. To do so, it enhances it with field types.

The field types allowed are Text, Number, Date, Time, Duration, Location, Photo, Barcode, and custom picker types. There are convenient buttons next to some fields for easier input.

For administrators or IT manager, you can create a master database of reference information that you don't want your users to modify. This master database can be published on the internet and either the Private DB app or General DB can download and view it.

What's New

IMPORTANT: This is a major release. It is imperative to back up your critical databases before any software update! To back up your databases, either use iTunes or AirDrop to share your databases to your computer, or upload your databases to Dropbox.

Major changes:
- Multiple choice Picker Types
- Run any SQL from another app using x-callback-url. Use the "execute-any-statement" query string. The option for it must be enabled in App Info and the user must still confirm it before it is executed.
- The latest SQLite database engine (3.23.1) is built in to the product. Now you do not have to upgrade your operating system to get the latest features of the underlying database.
- The field names for a VIEW are no longer modifiable. To have different field names than those of the source table, use the "AS" SQL clause when you create the view in SQL.
- Show index and trigger objects in the Tables list. An option is available in the App Info for displaying an icon beside each object indicating its type.
- Improved Help in the App Info
- Improved SQL Console:
o SELECT queries appear in a separate view. A "SELECT *" no longer automatically changes the selected table's list of rows. If you execute a "SELECT *" after selecting a table, tap the lightning bolt button to display the results in the list of rows.
o Larger, monospaced font
o Displays results from PRAGMA commands
o Link to SQL Syntax from the Help button
o If a command is successfully executed then it returns to the History tab of the SQL Console

Other changes:
- Background color changed to camouflage sand so you can easily tell if version 5.0 is installed.
- Support for importing emoji and other 4-byte Unicode characters.
- On the iPad, the left and right buttons now scroll 1 field at a time by default. You can change it to 5 or 10 fields at a time in the App Info. Long-press the buttons to scroll to the left-most or right-most page of fields.
- Corrected display issues on iPhone X
- Bug fixes
