The sixties were the times of the economic miracle in Germany and the decade I was born. As a symbol of the new prosperity people spent their vacation in „Bella Italia“, many times sung aboutin songs like „the Fishermen of Capri“. As a child I spent everysummer at the Italian Adriatic Coast with my parents and my sister. As a young woman I then decided to pursue my passion for Italy, which I carried with me since my early childhood, and explorewhat it‘s all about. So I packed my camera in my red Fiat 127 and travelled for several months around the country of my dreams, in my luggage the screenplay of Federico Fellinis „La Dolce Vita“.What did I experience? Was my early childhood picture of Italy confirmed? What I found was a country sometimes incomprehensible to Germans - loud, full of spirit, chaotic. But I also found a country between light and shadow with invisible borders running from the Adriatic Coast to the Riviera. And last not least I found a sensuous country crackling of eroticism, filled with playfully winking and sometimes slippery offers.Without the support of my italian friends this work would not have been possible! Thanks to Antonio, Nello, Mimo, Gianluca, Fabricio, Michele, Fabio, Pietro, Rosanna and all the others! The work originated as master‘s degree for the studies of visual communication in Dortmund. The work has received various prices and was already shown at several exhibitions, among other things in Arles during the Rencontres de la photographie and the Photokina in Frankfurt.Barbara Dombrowski 2011
