The New Yorker Magazine for iPad Arrives

by Marianne Schultz

The New Yorker Magazine has released an iPad app offering access to full issues of the highly-regarded weekly magazine. The free app hit the App Store early this morning and users can purchase individual issues for $4.99 each, considerably more than the per-issue price of about $.90 for a 1-year print subscription.

The app offers access to all content in the print edition plus bonus cartoons exclusive to the iPad edition. Additional features, such as access to archived stories, adjustable font sizing, the ability to share articles and more are planned for future updates to the app.

The New Yorker includes a video in a downloadable guide featuring actor Jason Schwartzman demonstrating how to use the app. This video, also available on The New Yorker’s site and embedded below, is most thoroughly on the whimsical side.
