App removed from site
We're sorry, "Range Cam" has been removed from the App Store.
Please return to the front page and use the search box above to find another app.
Note: To calibrate, place iPhone FACE UP on your table. Do not hold it vertically with one edge on the surface.
------------------------------
Range Cam is the first and only app which utilize the iPhone built-in radar for distance measurement. Just kidding!
It is the quickest way to get a rough distance measurement on a level surface.
By using iPhone's built-in camera, it is surprisingly accurate, normally fall within 2% to 3% of the actual distance. It supports both English and Metric units.
A quick tutorial.
-- Only need to do these once:
1. Calibrate the accelerometer.
2. Enter your height, which is used to calculate the distance.
-- How to measure
3. Imagine the ground line on camera preview extend off camera. Move the iphone so this ground line matches the base of the subject for measurement.
4. Tilt the phone so within the camera preview, the ground line overlaps the base of the subject.
5. Read the distance.
6. (new in 1.2) Tap the camera button to take a quick snapshot, with the measurement and scale.
It also has a height scale to estimate the height of the subject.
Note, the subject must be on the same level surface as you for the triangulation to work. The ideal usage is indoor measurements.
- Fixed a critical freeze problem on some iPhones when saving photo.
