The ‘Rudradhyaya’ invokes Lord Shankara and makes an appeal for His blessings:
The ‘Rudra’ is a Stotra- a prayer- devoted to Lord Shankara! The ‘Rudra’ or ‘Rudradhyaya’ is a group of Mantras composed of two segments with individual importance. The first segment of the ‘Sookta’ is termed as ‘Namaka’ because of the frequent occurrence of the syllable ‘Nama’. The other section, owing to the repeated incidence of the letters ‘Cha Me’, is known as ‘Chamaka’.
The Rudradhyaya evokes its all-inclusive powers when it is chanted. Meditating by uttering the Rudradhyaya is extremely potent in removing all the evil forces in the environment; aadding zest and happiness to life. Meditation means a conscious recitation of a Mantra, being aware of its true meaning and indication. By opening up the mind to logical clarity and pure thoughts, the Rudradhyaya allows positive thoughts to influence the mind. Listening to the chanting of this prayer too is effective, as is the actual recitation and meditation.
