metaio Toolbox
The metaio Toolbox allows to map, i.e. capture, reality in order to run Augmented Reality (AR) experiences related with your direct surrounding or objects close to you. We offer two different capture modes according to your AR use case. To embed AR into your apps and use captured maps you can use the metaio SDK. All files are stored in the app's Documents folder and can be accessed via iTunes.
The 'Instant Mapping' mode allows to run AR in your direct surrounding based on textured objects or surfaces in your environment. It's the perfect mode to run ad-hoc AR-experiences such as a desktop game without requiring the detection of a specific or unique object in your camera view. You can include this functionality in your own app based on the metaio SDK.
The 'Precise Mapping' mode allows to run AR related with a specific or unique object determined by its shape and texture, for instance if you want to create an AR-manual for your printer. It requires preparation of the scene by putting markers and provides a precise map that is in physical scale and with configurable origin. The resulting map can be used with the metaio SDK.
