iController

iController is a great way to control music playback from another iOS device over WiFi or Bluetooth. Just launch this app on your other device and you are ready to go. You can also create a quick playlist on the go. You can even connect to devices that are sleeping, as long as Bluetooth is on and the app is in the foreground.

You can also set a passcode lock, so only authorized clients can connect.

(Due to limitations of the OS, this app will not run in the background)
