Taking the Kids NYC
iOS iPhone Travel
Taking the Kids, distributed by Tribune Media Services, is the most widely syndicated family travel column in the country and has been enlightening family travelers for more than two decades in major newspapers and websites.
We are excited to bring content and creativity from Eileen Ogintz and Taking the Kids to our New York City app featuring travel tips, family fun, walking tours and scavenger hunts.
Taking the Kids NYC turns boring walking tours into fun-packed competitive scavenger hunts combining family travel tips, fun facts, celebrity sightings and lots more using iPhone GPS.
Answer challenges by text or picture and earn points for getting the right answer in the right location. Then compete against other kids and families with our online leaderboard. (If you have multiple iPhones, you could even split your family into teams and compete against each other!)
Taking the Kids NYC features three self-guided tours:
• New York City Guide: A scavenger hunt from 5th Avenue to Times Square.
• Central Park Guide: Central Park is beautiful, but how much did you know there are 21 playgrounds and more than 200 movies were made?
• Brooklyn Bridge Guide: Walk from St. Paul's Chapel over the Brooklyn Bridge and ending at the scenic Brooklyn Heights Promenade. The view from the bridge is so cool.
Taking The Kids creator, Eileen Ogintz, is a leading expert on family travel, co-chairing family travel conferences and speaking around the country on how to better meet the needs of 21st century family travelers. She has written nine family travel books, the newest from Globe Pequot Press are The Kid’s Guide to New York City and The Kid’s Guide to Orlando. The Kid’s Guide to Washington, DC will be out in the spring.
DISCLAIMER: Continuous use of GPS can dramatically decrease your iPhone's battery life. If you would like to take a break from the tour, simply pause it. Pausing stops the background GPS tracking; you can resume the tour anytime later.
