A RENDEZ-VOUS IN BELLEVILLE IN PARIS WITH FLORENCE LOIRET-CAILLE
The pursuit of a lost love through Belleville, one of Paris’ last popular neighborhoods, narrated by Florence Loiret-Caille with an original soundtrack composed by Spleen. With a hint of nostalgia, this tour features residents who are the living memory of a neighborhood that witnessed major changes.
Florence Loiret-Caille has not heard from her lover for days. His name is Spleen, and he is a bohemian musician. He has disappeared without leaving a lead. Florence takes us through her neighborhood of Belleville looking for Spleen. Belleville is the last bastion of the working-class and culturally diverse Paris. Tracing the steps of workers’ strikes, Florence shows us Jewish Tunisian cafés, mosques, old industrial alleys, and shadows of the 1870 Commune... In the old neighborhood of Edith Piaf it is not always “la vie en rose,” and everyone knows that the boundary between love and despair is fine.
