It has almost same features as app. GeoField for iPad: In Measurement screen, horizontal direction (compass), magnetic field intensities, and the inclination angle of geomagnetic field are displayed.
Although GeoField (iPad) and GeoFieldWatch (iPhone) are intended to investigate the geomagnetic field variations under severe weather conditions, such as Tornadoes, it can be used to survey ELF magnetic fields at around resident area and to investigate ELF signals inside house (from electric equipments and/or electronic devices).
From time to time, people have mentioned that non-ionizing ELF electromagnetic radiations are not good for human health. In fact, it has not been confirmed clearly in a scientific way that the non-ionizing EM radiations are bad for human health. By the same token, it has not been rejected either clearly in a scientific way. Believe it or not, it’s up to you at this time.
Field Survey: Local geomagnetic field variations (declination angles) are displayed on map when user drives a car (boat, airplane?) around an interesting local area. The display interval can be adjusted by setting Default or in the middle of survey. If the number of survey points on the map (Field Survey screen) exceeds 3000, the display of survey points starts again with current location. However; gps locations and magnetic field intensities (Bx, By, Bz) keep being recorded for each survey point. Here, the raw measurement values of horizontal components (Bx and By) are transformed as in the display (Field Survey screen).
Measurement: Geomagnetic field can be monitored (|Bx|, |By|, |Bz|, |B|, and inclination angle) and recorded at a specific location, For slowly changing fields (ELF) or DC fields (freq=0), systematic fluctuations and noise can be minimized if “Low Freq. Pass Filter” and/or “Field Averaged Count” is adjusted properly.
The measurement records can be shared with people through email or transferred to computer with usb cable.
Tap twice with two fingers to see or hide the button menu in Field Survey screen.
Tap three times with one finger to move the current location to the center of the Field Survey screen.
In the graph (Measurement screen), use one finger and drag a graph to see the time variations in detail with adjusting scales.
To change settings to defaults you made, start Device again or push button, “Reset All as in Defaults, and Start Again” after starting the app. Alternatively, first, remove the app in the multitasking list; then, start the app.
On the popup message of Compass Interference, don’t move Device that should be in a fixed position if you are using it inside a car. Instead, firstly, choose an interference free region except uniform geomagnetic field; then, make a couple of turns or go around a circular loop slowly – compass self-calibrating process. Please, be patient.
Make sure the compass is working properly with declination angle -- Measurement screen. Then, go to the setting screen and push button, “Reset All as in Defaults, and Start Again”, if it is necessary.
updated for IOS 6.0 and iPhone 5: mapCenter button is added on main screen; For the efficiency of operation, only last 200 data points are displayed; however, survey review screen is added for recording and recorded data. Auto compass calibration works fine in IOS 6.0.
