The World Is Yours by Lawrence Watson
iOS iPhone Photography
“Chuck D and Eric B looking mean and moody on a New York sidewalk. Tom Waits coming on like a sideshow spiv in a rundown bar. These are two of my favourite photographs by Lawrence Watson, not just because they are great portraits, but because I was there when they were taken. I know the stories behind the shots…”
- Sean O’Hagan
“Look through these photographs and you’ll see desire and passion at work. Lawrence was often the first photographer to shoot new artists for the NME, so he was able to capture the raw energy that’s so exciting in the early stages of their careers.”
- James Brown
The World Is Yours features a selection of limited edition photographs taken by Lawrence Watson, a legendary photographer who has captured some of the most iconic images of music artists over the past 25 years.
In the early ’80s Lawrence was commissioned to document the emerging New York hip-hop scene and his portraits of legendary artists from that era include Run DMC, Eric B and Rakim and Public Enemy. Since then Lawrence's interest in music has led him to work with such bands and musicians as Oasis, Paul Weller, Ian Brown, The Clash, Ray Davies, The Ramones, Tom Waits, The Smiths, Madness, Shane MacGowan, Blur, Massive Attack, Reverend and the Makers, Beck, Lenny Kravitz, Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, George Clinton, Grace Jones, Snoop Dogg, and many more.
In 2009 The World Is Yours book was released in association with adidas and the 60th anniversary of adidas’ 3-Stripes. Now you can get your hands on some of Lawrence’s greatest photographs, many of which have never been released before, on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
