App removed from site
We're sorry, "Social News" has been removed from the App Store.
Please return to the front page and use the search box above to find another app.
Social News is designed to make reading online news on the iPhone and iPod touch as easy as possible. Find popular stories on Digg, Mixx, Reddit, Slashdot, and a host of other sites, and subscribe to any RSS feed. Add anything you want to see to a queue, and then read it all at once.
Reading social news is now faster than ever. All of your favorite sites are in one place, with no app switching or back button required.
Features:
• All of your favorite social news sites and RSS feeds in one place
• A queue lets you read everything you want in a row without pausing to go back or to another site or app
• An info pane in the browser shows you which site and story you came from, so there's no need to remember those clever headlines that caught your attention
• The entire app works in portrait or landscape mode
• A horizontal scroller lets you choose from an unlimited number of sites while taking up very little screen real estate
• Email a link to an interesting story without leaving the app
• Coming soon: votes, comments, and much more interaction
You can try out a free, ad-supported version by searching for "Social News Free" on the App Store and looking for the blue newspaper icon, or clicking the "All Applications" button below in iTunes on your computer.
Major changes:
• New and improved story list, with full story titles, URLs, descriptions, and a smaller icon and new background color to indicate stories in the queue
• The queue browser now has a Hide button which does not affect the queue, and a Next button that loads the next story and displays the number remaining, and turns into a Close button when the queue is empty
Minor changes:
• Orientation now locks only until the app exits. There is also a new button for it in the browser action menu
• Ability to tap on info pane in browser to close it
• More concise tutorial for first-time users
• Other minor bug fixes and improvements
