1240 CJCS has been Stratford’s heritage radio station for music, news and information since 1924. (1921 if you include the first three years it was broadcast from the back of Higgin’s Hardware Store.) The station is still one of the few privately owned radio stations in the country. CJCS serves more than 100,000 listeners, primarily adults between the ages of 35 and 65, in Perth County and neighbouring regions. CJCS plays oldies music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and supplies hourly newscasts, emphasizing local news first. Broadcasting the local Junior Hockey Team – The Stratford Cullitons, Grapeline with Don Cherry and Primetime Sports, as well as many other specials, CJCS is an important part of the community it serves. Cjcsradio.com gets as high as 2 million hits a month with 25 million page views and is visited worldwide. It is an important source for local events, news, photos, weather and school closures, and station contests.
