COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is an incurable and progressive illness that will become one of the greatest causes of human mortality in just a few years. COPDfast® is a unique calculator for qualified healthcare professionals that enables them to view a patient's COPD severity as well as their current DOSEindex© in a single, easy-to-use app. This version allows simple feedback that requires accurate spirometry data.
COPD severity is rated from "Mild" (when other symptoms are present) to "Very Severe" using established worldwide guidelines.
The DOSEindex© score is a value from 0 to 8 and is used either in place of or in addition to the BODE. With the DOSE index score, the higher the number, the more likely the patient is to require additional health care resources and there is an increase in comorbidities.
The DOSEindex© score is appearing in more read codes (NHS) as well as research systems and can be used to update current patient records or during a patient assessment.
