File Cabinet Pro is the file manager for the macOS menu bar. Quickly navigate to files without cluttering your desktop. Open, move, rename, compress, tag, trash, copy and paste files, all from the menu bar. You can open many file types natively in File Cabinet Pro or open files by launching other applications. It's easy to click into directories in icon view, drill through directories in list view, or navigate the file tree in column view.

File Cabinet Pro is also a document-based application that ships with a built-in text editor, image viewer, pdf viewer, and media player. Some of the file types File Cabinet Pro can open for editing/viewing include:

With File Cabinet Pro you can:

∙Create txt, rtf, rtfd, and .md files from text data currently on the clipboard.
∙Rotate images, crop images, and apply filters to images using the built in lightweight image editor.
∙Watch video and play audio files using the built in media player.
∙View pdf files using the built in pdf viewer.
∙Revert document versions for supported editable document types.
∙Set a Global Hotkey for showing and closing the File Cabinet Pro window (optional feature, disabled by default).
∙Preview selected files in Quicklook by pressing the spacebar.
∙Share files in apps that support Sharing extensions like Mail and Messages.
∙Create text documents from Finder using File Cabinet Pro's Document Creator Finder extension (Note: To use this feature, you have to enable the Finder extension in System Preferences under the "Extensions" tab).
∙Verify the SHA256, SHA1, or MD5 checksum of files using the "View Checksum in File Cabinet Pro" Service.

What's New

-Added new Service named: "Save Web Archive in File Cabinet Pro." This Service allows you to quickly save websites as .webarchive files for offline viewing. To use this service, right click on a link or a web url in practically any app to bring up a context menu and select the service from the "Services" submenu.

Version 7.0:
-You can now set a custom background color to use for directories when they are opened in Icon view.
-You can now set a custom background image to use for directories when they are opened in Icon view.
-A new "Show View Options" menu item has been added to the context menu that appears when you right-click on the background of File Cabinet Pro's window. When you click this menu item, a popover will appear with controls that allow you to change the view options of the directory you are currently viewing. You can also bring up this popover using the Command+J keyboard shortcut.
-You can now customize the font size used in Icon, List, and Column view from the new View Options popover. Custom font sizes set from the View Options popover are saved and restored on a per directory basis.
-The pop up buttons to set a custom font size for Icon, List, and Column view in Settings are now used as the default values for new directories that have not previously been opened in File Cabinet Pro.

Version 6.9.1:
-Tagging files in File Cabinet Pro now supports undo and redo.
-You can now sort files by Tags.
-In List view you can now optionally display a table column titled "Tags."

Version 6.9:
-You can now have File Cabinet Pro display sorted files in groups. To use this new feature, right click in File Cabinet Pro's window to bring up the context menu and click the "Use Groups" menu item when your files are sorted. If files are currently grouped, this menu item will have a checkmark next to it and you can click it again to turn groups off.
-Fixed issue that caused selected rows in List view to sometimes draw in the wrong color in Dark mode.
-Workaround fix to bug in macOS Mojave that prevented multiple files from being dragged in Column view.

Version 6.7:
-File Cabinet Pro now enters Dark Mode when you turn on the System wide preference in macOS Mojave.
-On macOS Mojave File Cabinet Pro's built-in Text Editor, Image Viewer, PDF Viewer, and Media Player now support Dark Mode.
-For users on macOS High Sierra and earlier, you can still turn on Dark Mode in File Cabinet Pro's Settings window.

Version 6.6.2:
-If you have a Force Touch Trackpad, you can now force click to edit a filename.
-If you have a Force Touch Trackpad, you can now force click on a file's icon to bring up Quicklook.
-Fixed issue that caused buttons to sometimes disappear from the Touch Bar on MacBook Pros after switching to List view.
-Fixed a bug in Dark Mode in Icon view that caused the "Empty Folder" label to draw with a white background.
-Fixed issue where clicking a tab started a dragging session prematurely.

Version 6.5:
-Added a new "Reveal in File Cabinet Pro" Service. You can use this new Service from other apps to reveal files in File Cabinet Pro. Note that due to App Sandboxing rules you may be required to grant permission in the system provided Open Panel in order to use this new Service (depending on your Settings).

Version 6.4:
-Icon view now supports spring-loading. Drag files over directories in icon view to use this new feature.
-Fixed bug that sometimes caused the zoom slider to remain hidden after switching to a tab in Icon view.
-Each tab now maintains its own undo and redo stack instead of sharing a single undo and redo stack for the entire window.
