Tatsuya Tanaka was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1956. Ever since he first saw aurora borealis in Alaska in 1999, he has been infatuated and fascinated by beautiful aurora illuminations. He began focusing on photographing the aurora and visited aurora regions in North America for his northern light images. It became a steppingstone in his photography career. Since 2005, he has placed his aurora work in Yellowknife in Canada, and has photographed more than 200,000 works of aurora borealis.
A member Japan Professional Photographers Society and also of Society Scientific Photography.
