He was born in Saitama-Prefecture in 1950. He had interest in pictures especially in landscape pictures since he was in junior high school. He graduated from the Department of Photography in Tokyo Polytechnic University in 1978. After working several years in a commercial photo studio, he started his carrier as a free photographer.
