dB Sound Measurements
dB Sound Measurements provides a way to measure environmental sound levels, showing the approximate dB level (decibel level). This is an educational application, meant for educational and entertainment uses, not for professional use.
Please note that microphone sensitivities vary a lot, so the reading you get should be considered approximate (take it with a grain of salt!)
This decibel meter also gives you a convenient start/stop button, and records the minimum and maximum decibel reading. You simply tap on those readings to reset the minimum and maximum back to 0.
In this version, you can calibrate the microphone to get a better match for your particular device's sensitivity.
dB measurements are roughly accurate up to 120 dB on a typical iPhone or iPod Touch.

The volume meter calibration has been reverted back to what it was in mid-2010 due to an error in the re-calibration formula. We're re-visiting the calibration now with some more precise SPL meters from Radio Shack to try to get this more accurate!
