BabyCakes - Vegan and Gluten-Free Baking by Erin McKenna
Vegan and gluten-free baking at its best: Video recipes, techniques, and tips for Donuts, Cookies, Cupcakes, Pies, Pretzels, Sandwich Bread, Teacakes, and more, featuring Mark Bittman, David Lebovitz, Kiernan Shipka, J Mascis, Christina Tosi, Brooks Headley, and others.
This video-based baking app is so many things: a televisual masters cheatsheet for vegan and gluten-free baking, a bake-through of much of the first two BabyCakes NYC books, an indulgent and beautiful art project. It includes donuts, cookies, brownies, pretzels, David Lebovitz, sandwich bread, cakes, teacakes, frosting, waffles, pies, cupcakes, author Mark Bittman, Kiernan Shipka from "Mad Men," a pie recipe from Milk Bar's James Beard award-winning boss Christina Tosi, a crostata recipe from Del Posto's 4-star'd chef Brooks Headley, and way more. It is the famed BabyCakes NYC without the subway ride or the parking ticket. We're also gonna give you free seasonal updates for at least a year!
Some of our favorite musical acts contributed: J Mascis (of Dinosaur Jr!) wrote us a theme song, Cults sent us a doozy, Bleached offered a raucous singalong, and Bubbles, they of the magical melodies and dreamy synth lines, scored all the rest! There are also never-before-seen recipes that we haven't even sold at the bakery yet, emailable shopping lists, FAQ sections, a consistently updated news area, a community corner, personalized note-taking tech thing so's you can remember things, and videos, videos, videos!
