Draughts-wise PRO

iOS Universal

With Draughts-wise you can play American draught or checkers.

A lot of attention has been paid to the graphics, with the aim to make it look beautiful, without any distracting bling-bling. All moves are animated. You can choose from 2 different sets of pieces.

Draughts-wise has VoiceOver integration, making it the only mobile draughts application which is fully accessible to blind users.

PLAY

Games can be either for 1 or 2 players, and either with or without a clock. Of course, all the standard features like swapping sides or rotating the board are available.

ANALYZE

Draughts-wise contains a separate screen for analyzing positions. You can try out side variations and return to the main line with a simple double tap on the corresponding move in the move list. You can ask the engine for an evaluation.

SETUP

You can setup a position using an intuitive interface.

REPLAY

Look through the game you just played, and email the game notation, or copy it to the clipboard.

Regular updates expand the possibilities of Draughts-wise even more.

Draughts-wise is based on the Tjes engine (developed by me in 1996).

In different countries draughts is played according to different rules. In English draughts, for instance, kings can move just one square at a time, whereas in some other coutries kings 'fly', that is, they can move and capture along the whole diagonal. Another important difference has to do with promotions. In some countries, men promote to kings only when they land on the back row. In other countries they promote as soon as they touch the back row during a capture sequence, and continue capturing as a king.

In this app, the following sets of rules are supported:

English: Red starts. Men may capture kings.
American Pool: Red starts. Men may capture backwards. Men may capture kings. Kings are flying.
Russian: White starts. Men may capture backwards. Promotion is immediate. Kings are flying.
Italian: White starts. Captures must be maximal. Promotion is immediate.
Spanish: White starts. Captures must be maximal. Promotion is immediate. Kings are flying.
Brazilian: White starts. Men may capture backwards. Men may capture kings. Captures must be maximal. Kings are flying.

Please note, that after selecting a new set of rules, this goes into effect only after starting a new game!
