Description:
Features a completely redesigned wordlist for the GRE. With over ***1600*** words at varying levels of difficulty. Each word has a well thought out explanation and usage scenario to give you a better understanding of the word and its future use.
We set out to build an app that could do the work of a great tutor - only better - one who would tailor a list of words to your needs, remember which ones you know and don't know, and quiz you on them till
you've learned them all.
When you download SmartVocab, the app starts with a diagnostic quiz. You can choose Easy, Medium, Hard or Killer. The app tests you on 35 words at your chosen level, and, based on your results, assigns you to a "belt" - a vocabulary level from one to ten.
It also generates your first word list, picking words at the appropriate level for you, and sets you up with your first batch of words to study.
We're especially proud of the way our app looks and feels. In study mode, review the pronunciation, definition, part of speech and usage for each words, using simple, intuitive gestures.
When you've reviewed your batch, go to quiz mode. You'll get a timed, multiple choice quiz.
If you get a word right, the app remembers. It gives you that same word again on your next quiz. Then, if you get it right a second time, SmartVocab waits. A couple of quizzes pass before you see the word again. We set it up that way to make sure you not only learn but remember the word.
When you get a word right three times, it goes into your Mastered Words pile.
If you get a word wrong, it goes back into your Current Words for you to study it again.
Once you've mastered the words in a given belt, you move up to the next belt and get a new set of words.
Unlike other apps, SmartVocab makes sure you've really learned the words. Having a stack of flash cards on your phone or iPod is not enough. SmartVocab makes sure you learn and retain the words.

What's new
+ ALL iPhone OS versions can now download and use the app
+ There was a small bug which caused the app to crash in study mode. This only occurred on less than 5% of our install base. This has now been fixed.
+ improved study mode
+ improved indicators in quiz mode to show you how close you are to mastering a word (if you get a word right 3 times in 3 consecutive quizzes - you have mastered that word !)
