Float #1 The Trial Of The Century - by Yi-Chih Chen
Float #1 The Trial Of The Century
by Yi-Chih Chen
If adultery could bring down a Bubba*, what would it do to a Buddha? L.A., Eve of the Millennium, Float, a modern day reincarnation of a disgraced Buddhisava of an ancient time, recently divorced and depressed, is unexpectedly arrested by the police for the murder of his ex-wife (shades of the OJ Simpson case). Float is confused and despairing. But his simian disciple, Wukung shows up just in time for the trial, as his attorney. An attorney with Uzi...
The creator of Float, Yi-Chih Chen and his collaborators, writer Eric Luke and illustrator Fred Carrillo, are seasoned story artists in the L.A. animation scene (Gummi Bears, Tale Spin, Iron Man, X-Man, Ghost, Wonder Woman, Xyber 9 and Heman).
In Float, Chen created a unique filmic style narrative for comic book storytelling. We see jump cuts and sharp angles interlaced with a visual quiescence of the classic East. The mood is tense, psychotic, and at the same time blissfully karmic.
