He starts to play his fiddle, which draws to him a wolf, fox, and hare. The musician is so smart that he tricks each of them into becoming trapped in the forest. Later, the lonely musician finds a companion that he seeks, a woodcutter , for whom he plays the most beautiful music. The woodcutter helps the musician with his axe by scaring away the wolf, fox, and hare that are coming to take revenge on the musician.
