Lettres Persanes (French) HD
Lettres persanes is a satire written by Charles de Secondat, the Baron de Montesquieu. The author narrates the experiences of Usbek and Rica–two noblemen from Persia–while traveling through France. The author has neatly captured the oriental flavor with use of dates and its comparison with the west.
Usbek in 1711 leaves for a long journey to France along with his friend Rica. During the trip and their stay in France they come across different aspects of European society, in particular the Christian society. These aspects are discussed in the form of letters that are exchanged with friends. The story ends with a sarcastic comment on the French politics, moral values, and the John Law system.
