Le Mie Prigioni is a purely autobiographical text, written by Silvio Pellico which takes place in a period running from October 13th 1820, when the author was arrested in Milan for its adherence to the Carbonari uprisings, the September 17 1830 day of his return home.
In it Pellico describes his experience of detention in prison of Spielberg, together with that of his friend Piero Maroncelli following the commutation of death sentences received in detention in prison at hard labor.
Pellico began writing the work in 1831, encouraged by his confessor, and ended in 1832.
