Cortegiano is a treatise written by Baldassare Castiglione between 1508 and 1516 and finally published in 1528 , shortly before his death. Baldassare was inspired by the courtier from his experience as a courtier of the virgin duchess Elisabetta Gonzaga at the court of Urbino. The book is presented as a dialogue in four books, of which about one third of the rules to become a perfect woman, while remaining concerned with how to become a true courtier. The work, in the form of dialogue, is divided into four books and describes customs and ideals of the perfect courtier.
