iTunes Connect Holiday Closure: No New Apps or Updates December 21-28

by Marianne Schultz

As in previous years Apple is shutting down iTunes Connect, the tool through which developers manage their apps available in the Mac and iOS App Stores, for the holidays from December 21 through December 28. This means that Apple isn’t approving or releasing any new apps, app updates, or allowing price changes during this entire period. Since AppShopper gets its information in real-time directly from Apple, our price drop, updates, and new apps lists on our site and in our app will consequently not change during this time.

So if you see these lists look the same to you over the next few days, don’t worry – nothing’s wrong or broken on our end. Our site and app are just reflecting the lack of activity in the App Store because of this closure. You’ll start seeing new apps, updates, and price changes on December 29 when iTunes Connect opens back up. Note that our Popular lists will continue to change during the closure since they rely in part on other data that doesn’t come from Apple.

Heck! They also deserve some holidays, don’t they?

With all the heat this app is getting I think it should be removed from your site.

Everyone is going on that it is a scam and after you buy it the app is nothing but a chess game.

“No New Apps or Updates from December 21-28 from December 21-28″

    Really ?

It’s Dec 22nd here in the UK (will be Dec 23rd in under an hour) and there have tonnes of price changes / updates etc. on Appshopper over the past day or so.
Sure, they’ve slowed down in recent hours, but the sentence “No New Apps or Updates from December 21-28″ is clearly wrong as far as I can see…

This is the announcement Apple made to developers on December 5 (which you can read here: https://developer.apple.com/news/):

As a reminder, iTunes Connect will shut down December 21–28 for the winter holidays. You should not schedule pricing changes that take effect during the shutdown — these changes will not be reflected on the App Store and your apps or In-App Purchase items will become unavailable until after the shutdown. In addition, releases that are scheduled to go live between these dates will be delayed.

They must have since decided to adjust this given the recent activity in the App Store or perhaps there are still some App Store employees working overtime around the holidays. However, Apple has not adjusted the official statement on which this article was based.

Thanks for the heads-up. I am a relatively new subscriber to your site (and new Apple customer) and therefore was not previously aware of this.

In my opinion should they be open only 5 days a month. Maybe the quality of apps and update then could be higher. Appstore is worse than email spam most of the time.

All I know is I’m still receiving a few updates even late on the night of the 23rd, so obviously that statement from Apple earlier in the month wasn’t accurate.

My two apps just got updated on 24th?

Yet you haven’t bothered to alter the topic topic title to take this into account.

Most readers will simply see :

“iTunes Connect Holiday Closure: No New Apps or Updates December 21-28″

and probably won’t decide to investigate further despite it being an untrue statement. Shame….

Why isn’t app shopper in the App Store anymore? Did anything happen?
