P90x, the home fitness program fronted by Tony Horton and purchased by millions around the world since its debut in 2003, is now available for the iPhone. The P90X app hit the App Store yesterday and offers an all-in-one approach to completing the program through meal tracking, workout scheduling and downloadable workout videos.
P90X® has evolved. The breakthrough workout program that revolutionized home fitness now has an app that lets you Bring It!® on your iPhone®, so you can get even more amazing results—and work out with P90X anywhere. Keep track of your sets, reps, and weights, view your progress, log your nutrition, and share your results. With interactive features like these, you’ll stay motivated and accountable to get more out of P90X than ever.
Beyond tracking your workouts and meals using the P90X diet guidelines, the app offers Game Center integration to publicly mark and share your accomplishments. It also provides access to Team Beachbody, the online resources and community for users of fitness products by Beachbody, the company behind P90X.
The P90X workouts, which have previously only been available on DVDs, are available for download within the app. Those already familiar with the P90 DVDs should note the video guides available through the app are not exact duplicates of the ones provided on the DVDs but contain the same exercises with more explicit instructions and timers. These video guides are crafted to make it feasible for you to complete them while the iPhone is in an armband where you can refer to the video demonstrations as needed and listen to the audio cues with headphones.
You can purchase all of the workouts at once via in-app purchase for $59.99, or buy only the resistance workouts in a bundle for $29.99, or purchase individual workouts for $6.99 each. The Ab Ripper workout and P90X Fit Test are available for free.
I completed the P90X program myself earlier this year and was pleased with the results and I’m excited to see this app that makes the workouts more accessible away from home. If you’ve ever thought about trying P90X but just didn’t think you’d enjoy spending so much time in front of your TV to follow along with the workouts, this app provides an excellent alternative.
