Apple released an update to its MobileMe Gallery app today, adding a number of new features for subscribers to its MobileMe service. MobileMe Gallery offers access to the service’s photo hosting and sharing feature. MobileMe provides push email and over-the-air synchronization of contact and calendar data between multiple devices and costs $99 per year (though it can often be found for less on Amazon and eBay). MobileMe Gallery saw its last update in June and is the last of Apple’s MobileMe apps to get universal treatment.

The list of new features in version 1.2 is as follows:

• Universal app with full iPad support
• Supports fast app switching for iOS 4 devices
• Optimized for Retina displays
• View friends’ galleries without the need for a MobileMe subscription (iPhone and iPad only)

Apple’s other MobileMe apps are iDisk, which offers easy access to the cloud storage included with a MobileMe account, and FindMyiPhone, a feature of the service that allows users to locate a lost iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
