Gameloft’s first-person shooter, N.O.V.A (Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance), has been updated to version 1.2.1 with some iPhone 4-specific features including the ability to control movement using the device’s gyroscope and Retina Display support. Only a handful of games take advantage of the iPhone 4’s gyroscope, with ngmoco’s Eliminate: Gun Range appearing as the first to do so shortly after the iPhone 4’s release.
The full list of the updates made to N.O.V.A is as follows:
- Updated for iPhone 4 and iOS 4
- New gyroscopic control mode with complete 3D range added
- Crisp & gorgeous high-resolution graphics to take full advantage of the iPhone 4 Retina Display
- Support for iOS 4 multitasking on compatible devices: switch between your favorite apps instantly
Touch Arcade reviewed N.O.V.A when it was released and found it to be impressive. We haven’t spent too much time yet with this latest version but the gyroscopic control feels smooth and graphics are nice and crisp.
