Kindle App Updated For Multimedia Content

by Marianne Schultz

Amazon announced yesterday that its universal app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch has been updated to take advantage of embedded video and audio content in a new ebook type offered by the global bookseller. Kindle Editions with Audio/Video will include additional content to supplement the reading experience. For example, the book Rose’s Heavenly Cakes by Rose Levy Beranbaum contains video content with tips on how to prepare a cake.

Only a handful of these enhanced ebooks, all priced at $9.99, are available now and they can be browsed on Amazon’s dedicated page within online Kindle store. The multimedia content in these books can only be experienced through the iPad/iPhone app and not through Amazon’s own Kindle reading devices.
